DESCRIPTION

When you explore Missouri, you may come across the maintained gristmills in the Ozarks, the charming small towns, or the prosperous urban centers that tell the story of the communities that built them. Trails, waterways, railroads, and highways secured Missouri’s place as both a crossroads and a catalyst in the building of America.

The mills, like those in Alley Spring and Rockbridge, represent their ingenuity and resilience. The main streets of small towns like Ste. Genevieve and Hermann are filled with a sense of nostalgia. Kansas City, St. Louis, and other major cities are brimming with magnificent architecture and creative energy. Embark on a picturesque visual journey that defines the heritage of the Show-Me State. Observe the numerous historical, architectural, and cultural contributions that its inhabitants have created.

Exploring Missouri: Mills, Towns, and Cities is a tribute to the state’s heritage. Whether you are from Missouri, love history, or you enjoy learning more about special places, this is a celebration of the connection between the past and the present, the photographer and the subject, and the viewer and the vision.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR(S)

Caren Libby, a professional photographer from St. Louis, Missouri, has been creating art since childhood, first through drawing and painting and later through her camera. She began by capturing everyday moments of her children, gradually discovering photography as her authentic artistic voice. After living in Northern California for eight years, she returned home in 2004 and saw Missouri’s landscapes, towns, and people through a new lens. Since 2008, Caren has shared her love of portrait and event photography while also documenting the historical, cultural, and natural beauty of her state. Her photographic art is featured in galleries, businesses, and publications.
