Nestled along the scenic Comal River, New Braunfels, Texas, is a town rich in history and charm.
Known for its historic sites, it is home to the oldest bakery in Texas, a unique German waterpark, sprawling parks with trails and playgrounds, a train museum, and a spring-fed pool. The town’s dining and shopping scenes are equally vibrant, evolving alongside its recent growth, which has brought new buildings, homes, and retail establishments.
For photographer Tori Sandoval, however, the true beauty of New Braunfels lies beyond its modern attractions. Tori is captivated by the town’s historical roots and deep German heritage, finding inspiration in the old buildings and stories embedded within them. Her photography focuses on the tranquil cemeteries scattered throughout the area. These serene resting places house notable burials, expansive family plots, intricate wrought-iron fences, and beautifully crafted headstones.
Tori's favorite subjects include statues adorning graves and the personal tokens left behind in memory of the deceased. Through her lens, she invites viewers to discover a deeper, often overlooked beauty in these solemn spaces.
