DESCRIPTION

So often, we get caught up in the idea of history being measured in centuries when so much has already happened in this century. 21st Century Long Island will appeal to any Long Islander who wants to know more about events and milestones they lived through in the last twenty-five years. The book offers a fresh take on local history, looking at some of the big moments, places, and people of Long Island since the year 2000. Featuring some of the changes that have come to Nassau and Suffolk Counties in the last quarter century, each chapter puts events into historical context, with stories and photos that look back at how our lives have been shaped and defined by recent history.
