DESCRIPTION

From the early colonial seacoast to the White Mountains, to the Great North Woods, New Hampshire burial grounds vary from urban park-like cemeteries to simple family plots.

One might find a single lonely marker hidden deep in the back woods with nothing to suggest that anyone ever lived nearby. Each tombstone tells fascinating stories of the past and may speak and tell of heroic deeds or great tragedies. Often personal histories become forgotten, but some survive in local lore. Some tell of hauntings. To create Buried New Hampshire, authors and photographers Rick Davidson and Bill Thompson spent a year researching intriguing legends, following clues, and photographing granite state cemeteries. Rick and Bill have a long history of roaming New Hampshire together fly-fishing for native fish and photographing historic and natural beauty.

Celebrities, murderers, heroes, and various unusual characters come alive in this book. Some are well known; others lie in their final resting place shrouded in mystery. Extensive research and evocative photography reveal stories of many of those lying dead in their graves in the beautiful state of New Hampshire.
