Glenn Voelz served for twenty-five years in the U.S. Army as an intelligence officer and spent over a decade living and working in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He held senior leadership positions at the Pentagon, in the White House Situation Room, and at NATO headquarters in Belgium. Glenn was an assistant professor in the Department of History at West Point and the author of three previous books on the history of outdoor recreation in Oregon. He works as a professional ski patroller at the Mount Bachelor Nordic Center and is a Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue volunteer.
