As a native New Englander, I found this book particularly interesting. I, of course, had some knowledge of the historical importance of the area, such as the Salem Witch Trials. However, this book really dives into a deeper level and explores more than what I think the average person may know. It also goes into some interesting aspects such as the symbolism and type of materials used for markers. Paired with amazing photography, this book really provides a unique take on the graveyards of the area.
Amazing photography and unique insight about the cemeteries of the area. The author does a great job of bringing both history and stories together in such a way that pairs well with the images.
Well written history of a fascinating company. Author's personal experiences aboard some of the steamboats make the history truly come to life. A must read!
This book is incredible! It shows, and talks about the lost graves, that have been weathered, and lost over time, how they have become almost one with the land theyâre on.This background that goes along with them is also fascinating. Casey, has a gift for telling us the history, and stories about these people and where theyâve been laid to rest. It actually is so intriguing, that each time I drive by an old cemetery, I think of what stories those graves could tell. I highly recommend reading these books, you will not be disappointed!!
I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of this book before it was published, and I can wholeheartedly say, you must buy it! One of my favorite author/photographers writing about one of my favorite places? Obviously a win-win! You may think you know Kauai, but I guarantee you will learn something new and experience it differently when you see it through the lens of this book.
